Yoga and Gut Health

What a joy it is to celebrate a night out with girlfriends.  Somewhere between arriving and taking my first bite of delicious garlic bread, I got wrapped up in that festive feeling and abandoned the idea of gut healthy eating.  One glass of wine, an entire bowl of pasta and the equivalent of one loaf of bread later, I rolled into my car thinking of Lilly Tomlin saying "I at the WHHHHole thing - and that's the truth. PFFFT."
I'll admit, I eat relatively clean most days.  We all deserve to treat ourselves with the grace of an Italian meal now and again, right?
Recently I attended a networking event where the speaker had healed her body from MS by repairing her gut eating fermented vegetables, pro-biotics and clean foods.  Gut health seems to be linked to overall good health.  Reach out to me if you'd like to get a copy of the recipes.
In addition to eating well, our gut receives further love in twisting yoga poses.  Twisting poses are only recommended once the spine is warmed up, so don't just flop on the floor and do it after you read the last sentence.  In Frog Pose Beginner Class we warm up the spine first by Saluting the Son of Man in spine warm up exercises.  Then, and only then, we take Revolve Crescent Lunge, Prayer Twist and Supine Twist, to name a few (images are on this page).

With each twisting pose we focus our breath and our prayerful intention on God's ability to heal our gut.  Each deepening breath wrings toxins out of our internal organs, like wringing out a sponge.

Try out the benefits of eating clean, giving our gut the good bugs it needs and stretching on a yoga mat.

This could be the Rx our Great Physician ordered to help you feel healthy!
